以前バスに乗っていた時、数人の幼稚園児が、お互いの家の部屋数を話題にしていました。２DKが標準らしく、それ以下だと評価が下がるようです。一人が私にも聞くので、２DKだと答えると、納得した様子でした。その頃の私は、実際は２Kでした。その後小学生の姪が私に、おじさんはお給料いくらもらっているの、と聞いてきました。私は、人間はお金で比べてはだめだよ、という話をしようと思いましたが、そのうち話す機会もあるだろうと思い、黙ったままでいました。恐らくその娘は私への自分の評価が正しい、とその時確信したでしょう。私の中学１年の時には、保護者の名簿の肩書で評価した記憶があります。社長が一番偉い、というのが当時の私の認識でした。
今思えば、子供の頃の評価方法は、いわゆる外形標準方式です。高校生になると、別の評価基準があることを知るのですが、あいにく大学を出ても外形標準でしか見ない人たちがいます。私は、その人たちには文化がない、と思っていますが、その人たちにとっては、私はただの落ちこぼれでしょう。

Perhaps the niece would have convinced that her evaluation to me was correct. In my first year of junior high school, I remember evaluating parents of students on the list title. At that time, I thought that the “president” was the greatest.
In retrospect, the evaluation method in childhood is the so-called pro forma standard method. High school students know that there are another evaluation standards, but unfortunately even many people who graduate from university only evaluate using the external standards. I think they don't have a "culture", but for them I'm just a drop-out.
